David Kessler doesn't mince words when asked why he volunteers to mentor learning-disabled junior high students. "I want to save the world. We all want to save the world," the Northwestern University student said. Kessler is one of four area college students who travel to Golf Middle School each Monday to buddy up with learning-disabled students for an after-school program.

North Suburban Traveler: Jane Feely of Gurnee takes her family back to Tenby, the small Welsh town she grew up in, and finds plenty to captivate today's teenagers. It's a good four-hour drive from London's Heathrow airport to the peace and tranquility of South West Wales. Surrounded by the sea on three sides, Tenby's long stretches of sandy beach are a great attraction for families.

By landing top-five finishes in diving and earning at-large berths, Jasmine Ramahi and Emily Fung made a little school history during Saturday's New Trier Sectional. Only once before has the program sent two divers to the IHSA state finals at the same time. But that diving success only tells part of the story.

Mother/daughter act on skids in 'Grey Gardens'
You could hardly invent a story as strange as that of the once socially prominent Bouvier-Beale women, a mother and daughter, who were cousins of former first lady Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy.
